This title may be closer to the truth.

Part II, Laws, Black In the United States

Q. Who determines the Law of the Land? The Constitution would be the answer. But in Colonial times it was determined by the states themselves. The next question is, who determines what the Constitution means? that would be the US Supreme Court [USSC]. On the subject of State v. Federal, we are definitely the UN-united States of America. At present, politics is the only thing ruling the land.

We have two very deep divisions concerning law; the USA; Judicial v. the Constitution, and State v. Federal. It has come to the point where both the States, and the Judiciary feel comfortable ignoring the Constitution, by setting it aside, making laws in opposition to it, or re-interpreting it’s meaning (based on the political prevailing wind).

There are many cases which began on the local and state levels; when appealed to the USSC, they eventually become the law of the land.  This is IMPORTANT to realize, if we hope for change. Why am I concerned? – because of the many Laws of the land that have affected black people. WE live-out state laws and court rulings for decades.

You cannot separate Judicial, Constitutional, Federal, and State Law. There has been a never-ending battle between them from the very beginning.

Presently, former slave states have gained a political edge (by legal manipulation) that they don’t intend to let go of. The general public and democracy is at their mercy.

When I think of Hilary Clinton v. Donald Trump I could cry. What she represented was more important than a personality. We have become a nation that considers personality more than capability. It’s scary.

Support democracy, even when the best possible candidate is a woman. When Hilary Clinton (for President) and Stacy Abrams (for Governor) lost election, democracy took the hit. Remember the Pandemic, and think how things could have been better with them.

Our only hope is the vote for our best interests, and that is why extreme right politicians has done everything conceivable to make it impossible. It is imperative that we support more than Presidential elections. Indifference is deadly.

Here is another take on this article’s title, the UN-United Sovereignties of America (we will still be the USA). That is where we are heading. There is no question in my mind that slaver states want to rule themselves, aside from the requirements of the Constitution. “We the people” will be whatever is expedient for their purposes. Democracy (control by the majority), will be a pleasant notion. The TV series “The Handmaid’s Tale” (available on Hulu) was a scary sneak peek.

Vote because the quality of your life depends on it.

PS. Those of you who are politically savvy already know this stuff; I didn’t write this for you. Tell a friend.

Q.  Whose LAW are we following? Is it the Constitution’s, the Court’s, Local Authorities, States, or Government Agencies?  A.  All of the above.  Our country has been bi-polar on the subject.
